Rocky Mountain Elk

October 7, 2017. @0800. Sunny 60 degrees.

Walking along a north facing ridge on a dirt road, we saw a herd of elk walking up the draw from a open field to the top of the ridge, where we found lots of beds. They were traveling along one of the only creeks that held a little bit of water. My lady & I saw 8 cows & a 5x5 herd bull. The herd bull was leading the herd from the rear. After the herd was running up the ridge, a solo cow trailed behind and kept eyes on us until the rest fled.

BJJ Journal: Butterfly Guard

Opponent steps up while keeping top of foot behind knee and other foot hooks behind on hamstring. One hand on ankle and the other on lapel as leash. Slide into de la Riva. Then slide into X- guard. #1. Opponent leans back, so you extend both legs while pulling ankle, and push at lapel, and keep the lapel and the cuff. Elbow on mat, knee slice down leg and loop leg into back of shoulder. Step over with other leg and secure arm bar. Keep arm to chest and slide up to opponent thumb. #2 opponent leans forward, keep inside hook on hamstring tight, drop other leg to mat, punch hand behind butt and hip opponent over and take side control. Breaking the guard - 2 on 1 Russian tie. Control opponent with 2 on 1 at his elbow and wrist, and pin him to the ground with it. While driving into him, walk him all the way up to top of his back, and get your hips under his. Move from 2-1 to double cliff hanger, then lift opponent off the ground. Break the guard by stepping back and pushing the knee out. Pinch one of the opponents legs, the side you want to pass. Let go of the arm and move to same side collar. Side hop, forehead driving into sternum and back step over into side control.
