BJJ Journal: Butterfly Guard

Opponent steps up while keeping top of foot behind knee and other foot hooks behind on hamstring. One hand on ankle and the other on lapel as leash. Slide into de la Riva. Then slide into X- guard. #1. Opponent leans back, so you extend both legs while pulling ankle, and push at lapel, and keep the lapel and the cuff. Elbow on mat, knee slice down leg and loop leg into back of shoulder. Step over with other leg and secure arm bar. Keep arm to chest and slide up to opponent thumb. #2 opponent leans forward, keep inside hook on hamstring tight, drop other leg to mat, punch hand behind butt and hip opponent over and take side control. Opponent has de la Riva, hand on hip and straighten leg then point knee out to break de la riva guard. Leave hip and grab lapel. Pin knee to mat and knee slice to pass.
